THE STUDIO

Of process and poetry.

A Brisbane wedding and event planning studio composing events across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast and Byron Bay. Equal parts creative house, meticulous planners, trusted confidants and your greatest advocates.

Dorothea Legaspi, founder and creative director of The Hourglass House, a Brisbane wedding planning and event styling studio

— Creative Director

Dorothea
Legaspi

Founder, creative director, and the reason your event will feel effortless.

Dorothea founded The Hourglass House because planning a wedding or event, however exciting, can quietly become one of the most overwhelming things you'll ever take on.

The decisions stack up. The coordination never really stops. And somewhere between the venue confirmations and the final run sheet, it becomes easy to lose sight of what the day is actually for. The Hourglass House was built to give that back to you.

Working alongside a trusted team of planners, designers and stylists, Dorothea sets the tone for the studio's work across weddings, private celebrations and brand events. What distinguishes her, and the studio she built, is a genuine investment in the people behind each event, not just the event itself.

— Our Philosophy

Fewer events,
looked after completely.

Every event we commit to receives the full weight of the studio — the same creative thinking, the same planning rigour, the same standard of communication and the same presence on the day. A small calendar is simply what that standard of care requires.

The Hourglass House takes on a small number of weddings and events each year. Not as a marketing position, but because the work demands it.

— How the studio works

Concept, planning,
design and the day itself —
looked after by one studio.

01Vision

Creative direction

Before anything is ordered, built or styled, there is a brief. A single, art-directed perspective that gives every subsequent decision something to answer to.

02Structure

Planning intelligence

Budgets, run-of-day, supplier contracts, managed with the patience and precision of a studio that has done this before.

03Aesthetic

Design cohesion

Stationery, table settings, lighting, sound and venue drawn from one creative direction. Never simply stitched together, and always intentional.

04Relationships

Supplier curation

A carefully selected group of florists, photographers, caterers, and artists we have worked alongside for years. We bring them, we brief them.

05Hospitality

Guest experience

A room full of people you love deserves the same care as everything else. How they're welcomed, hosted and looked after is part of the same design.

06Execution

Quiet precision

On the day, the studio runs everything. You and your guests arrive, and the day takes care of itself.
